The social enterprise project for sunflower small scale farmers in Aloi Town Council, Alebtong District, Northern Uganda is designed to enhance the economic and social livelihood of local farmers in the region. Sunflower is one of the most important cash crops grown by small scale farmers in the area, and the project aims to provide them with access to markets, agricultural inputs, and financial resources to improve their incomes and profitability.
The project will work with a group of 100 sunflower farmers in Aloi Town Council,starting with atleast 10 groups in the first season, providing them with training in modern farming techniques, access to improved seeds and fertilizers, and market linkages to ensure that their produce fetches a good price in the market. In addition, the project will provide financial support to the farmers, helping them to obtain credit and invest in their farms.
The social enterprise project is designed as a collaborative effort between local farmers, community leaders, and private sector partners. Its goal is to build a sustainable and inclusive value chain for sunflower production in the area, enhancing the economic and social well-being of local farmers while generating profits for all stakeholders involved.
The project aims to contribute to poverty reduction, food security, and economic development, strengthening the local economy by creating new employment opportunities and increasing the production and sales of sunflower products. Through its activities, the project will contribute to the overall development of the region, improving the quality of life of farmers and their families, and promoting sustainable and inclusive business practices.
