National Youth in Agriculture Extension Award

Mr. Akejo Gordon Victor, the Chief Executive Officer of Gordon’s Agricultural Organisation in Uganda, has been voted as the best National Youth in Agricultural Extension where he was the first Runner up by the citizens of the Republic of Uganda. The occasion was celebrated  at Sheraton Hotel  in Kampala ,with great enthusiasm and various stakeholders in the agricultural sector  participated in the festivities. Upon receiving the award, Mr. Akejo humbly stated that it was not him who had won, but rather the farmers and the youths who believed in the organizations work.

As the CEO of Gordon’s Agricultural Organisation, Mr. Akejo has a vital role to play in helping farmers in Uganda improve their yields and incomes through agricultural extension services, training, and access to markets. He sees the award as a recognition of the hard work and dedication of everyone involved in the agricultural sector in Uganda and is honored to receive it on behalf of the organization and the farmers they serve.

Going forward, Mr. Akejo plans to use the award as a platform to advocate for more investment in agriculture in Uganda. He believes this includes increased funding for  development, improved infrastructure, and better access to credit. Moreover, he intends to expand the organization outreach to more farmers in remote areas, particularly women and young people who often face numerous challenges in accessing agricultural services and markets.

Mr. Akejo is confident that by working collaboratively, the agricultural sector in Uganda can achieve greater productivity, sustainability, and profitability, thereby contributing significantly to the country’s overall socio-economic development.

He also aims to introduce more services for farmers in Uganda, including innovative technologies and techniques that can help farmers increase their productivity and improve the quality of their crops. This includes introducing climate-smart agriculture practices that can help reduce the impact of climate change on agricultural production, as well as promoting sustainable farming methods that can protect the environment and preserve natural resources.

Mr. Akejo’s vision is to transform Uganda’s agricultural sector into a vibrant and prosperous industry that can create more jobs and improve the livelihoods of millions of people across the country. He believes that investing in agriculture is not only critical for food security and poverty reduction, but also for promoting inclusive economic growth and sustainable development.

In conclusion, Mr. Akejo Gordon Victor’s recognition as the ” first runner up” National Youth in Agricultural Extension is a testament to his leadership and commitment to the development of Uganda’s agricultural sector. His dedication to improving the lives of farmers and promoting sustainable agriculture will undoubtedly help Uganda achieve its goal of becoming a food-secure and prosperous nation.
